Die grellen Farben der Gemälden von Viktor Kaplan lassen niemanden gleichgültig. Als ob man in einer alten Kirche auf die bunte, von außen durch die Sonne beleuchtete, Fensterglasmalerei schaut. Von den Formen der dargestellten Objekten haut der Meister alles Übrige ab, es bleiben nur einfache geometrischen Figuren, dadurch aber kann er frei mit den Farben spielen. Unbeachtet der strengen geometrischen Formen, wirken die Gemälden meist romantisch, sentimental, spirituell. Unübersehbar ist das Schaffen von Viktor Kaplan von Marc Chagall beeinflusst. Geboren in Krasnodar, im Süden von Rußland, absolvierte Viktor Kaplan dort die Kunstschule, danach studierte er an der Akademie Polygrafische Kunst in Moskau. Dort in 1973 geschah das Lebensbestimmende Treffen: der junge Kunststudent konnte Marc Chagall,den er über alle Künstler verehrte, persönlich kennenlernen und ihm seine Arbeiten zeigen und Bemerkungen vom großen Meister bekommen. Viktor Kaplan arbeitete als Kunstlehrer an der Kunstschule, als Designer im Theater , als Leiter des Designbüros in Krasnodar. Seit 2001 ist er Freie Künstler, nahm an verschiedenen Ausstellungen in Deutschland teil.

The bright colors from Viktor Kaplan’s paintings cannot leave anyone indifferent. As if you are standing inside an old colorful church, with stained glass windows, externally illuminated by the sun. The master cuts off everything else from the represented objects, leaving only simple geometric figures, being able to play freely with the colors. Regardless the strict geometric shapes, the effect of the paintings is mostly romantic, sentimental, and spiritual. Viktor Kaplan’s work is unmistakably influenced by Marc Chagall. Born in Krasnodar in southern Russia, Viktor Kaplan graduated from the Art School, and then he studied at the Printing and Arts Academy, in Moscow. There, in 1973, he experienced his life-determining meeting: the young art student was able to meet in person Marc Chagall, whom he admired above all the artists. Showing his work to him enabled the Russian artist to receive comments from the great master. Viktor Kaplan worked as an art teacher at the Art School, as a designer in the theater, as head of the design office in Krasnodar. Since 2001 he is a freelance artist who has participated in various exhibitions in Germany.
